Goodwin Boxing are proud to announce the inaugural Fascia and Glazing Supplies Fight Cup.
An evolution of the fan favourite Prizefighter tournament, the Fight Cup will involve four participants in a clash of cruiserweight talent, each vying for the top prize: a beautifully crafted cup, prize money and the mandatory position to challenge for the Southern Area cruiserweight title.
This is a competition officially sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control.
The four boxers competiting over the ten round bouts are Biola Kudus, Ryan Crawford, Karl Wheeler and Ossie Jervier. Each has had their own ups and downs through their respective careers and the Fascia and Glazing Supplies Fight Cup gives each of them the chance to progress a new level.
Taking part over a number of shows, the knockout tournament will see Kudus battle Crawford on September 17th at York Hall, while Wheeler takes on Jervier on October 29th at the same venue. The winners of each bout will move on to meet on a date to be decided and have the chance to claim the prestige of being crowned the first Fascia and Glazing Supplies Fight Cup champion.
Head of Goodwin Boxing, Steve Goodwin, commented on what the tournament means for the four fighters involved:
"Boxing fans loved the Prizefighter format and the drama unfolding. We wanted to take it a step further, build the concept to include longer fights and ultimately a guaranteed shot at an Area title. We are starting with the cruiserweights as we have a terrific stable of boxers that can promise not only exciting fights but also there is the potential to see some rivalries evolve or maybe even be rekindled! The potential is there to roll this out for other weight divisions, meaning we grow yet more opportunities for those under the Goodwin Boxing banner."
The Fight Cup promises to be explosive. Each of the four that are signed up have been part of hugely entertaining fights in the past and the permutations of winners and losers in the opening round means the final could even see a rematch of one of the small hall fights of the year from 2016. Should both Kudus and Wheeler progress, a mouthwatering final would be setup for the two who clashed back in March and became embroiled in a war of words on social media in the aftermath.
Alternatively the heavy hitting Jervier and crowd pleasing Crawford could find themselves thrust into contention for titles at relatively early stages of their careers with victory in the two bouts.
Whatever the outcome and whoever the victor, the Fascia and Glazing Supplies Fight Cup promises to bring fireworks from start to finish. With so much at stake for the winner, it is a tournament none of them can afford to lose.
