PHILLIPS & PAGAN GET SOUTHERN AREA TITLE OPPORTUNITY

The Southern Area Middleweight title in recent years has become one of the most sought after titles, this very title has been around the waist of 2-time World Champion Billy Joe Saunders in the past. It was held more recently by Goodwin Boxing's very own Brad Pauls who won it with a 3rd round stoppage against Darren Codona back in June 2019 and then defended it against Robbie Chapman in November of the same year.

But Paul's vacated the title early 2020 to pursue a different path, that opens up the opportunity for Gravesend's Sean Phillips to get his hands on this illustrious title as he faces Davis Pagan for the vacant title on the 14th March 2020 UNLEASHED show at York Hall.

Phillips who's record stands at 6 wins, 1 draw and only a single defeat, with that points defeat coming in the short 3 round format of the Ultimate Boxxer tournament, against a former Southern Area Champion Grant Dennis. But boxing is all about timing and getting the right fights at the right time, could this be the right time for Phillips to write his name in the history books?

But titles aren't given away, as many great fighters down the years have found out. Davis Pagan will also know that these chances come around rarely. Pagan is the more experienced of the two as a pro having 12 fights compared to Phillips's 8. Pagan has won 10 of the aforementioned 12, the two losses considered as blips on his record. Boxing is an unforgiving sport, mistakes are sometimes punished as Pagan has found out in the past. But there is an old saying in boxing, "you either win or you learn" & those losses would definitely have delivered some lessons. Pagan will not want to let this opportunity pass him by.

Unleashed is shaping up to be a quality a show, it's currently headlined by undefeated Dean Richardson defending his Southern Area Super-Welterweight title against Korad Stempkowski.

The undercard features Prospects Chavez Campbell & Ish O'Connor who face off against each other in a 6 round 50/50, Hard-hitting Ellis Zorro gets his toughest test as he faces former Southern Area Challenger Ossie Jervier over 6, popular Tom Ansell takes part in a 6 rounder, James Costanzo returns after being out since November 2018, Yaser Al Ghena looks to continue towards titles in a 6x3 & Neil Parry looks to make a statement for 2020 as he features in a 6 round contest.
