Former Unlicensed boxing star and IBA World Champion in that sphere, Lee Spencer, has decided at the late age of 34 to turn professional under Rod Julian and has signed a three-year promotional agreement with Goodwin Boxing.
Spencer had a distinguished amateur career winning 33 of 40 bouts before deciding to box on the unlicensed circuit with the IBA where he won every title they offered including British and World crowns.
“I would have regretted it for the rest of my life if I had not turned professional” said Spencer. “I got to the top of the unlicensed game and now I need to see if my talents can do the same at the higher level”.
Lee will be managed by Rod Julian and has decided to commit himself to the Goodwin’s for the promotional aspect of his career.
“I work well with Steve and the Goodwin team” said Rod. I have known Lee since he was 20 years old and trained him 14 years ago. I believe we can fast track him to the Southern Area title.
Spencer who is a builder by trade will compete in the Super-Welterweight division and will bring plenty of excitement to the Goodwin shows. Being an aggressive pressure fighter with power will fuel the excitement of the hundreds of fans he expects to bring to the arena. “He wears his heart on his sleeve and has massive support” said Julian. “You wont want to blink when he is in the ring.”
Goodwin once again was delighted with the signing. “We appreciate every boxer that comes to us and thank Rod and Lee for showing their faith in us”.
