CHAMPIONS AREN'T BORN, THEY ARE MADE!

What does it mean to succeed? What does it mean to achieve your goals and then stretch the targets even further?

For more than 10 years our team at Goodwin Boxing have been doing this for our stable of boxers. Our team have diligently planned pathways and set goals that boxers never dreamed of achieving, then we have assisted in surpassing them.

The achievement will always be that of the boxer; the man or woman lacing the gloves and stepping between the ropes. It is them who receive the accolades, the titles, the belts and the love of the boxing public. At Goodwin Boxing, we do our work in the background to make those moments happen.

We have a rollcall of champions that keeps getting longer. 29 Southern Area champions, 11 English champions, 1 British champion, 1 Commonwealth champion, 1 IBO Intercontinental champion, 1 WBA International champion and a WBO world champion. Steve Goodwin has managed boxers to all of these achievements and as we head towards the start of 2023, continues to plan his next boxing moves.

“Managing boxers’ careers isn’t easy” reflects Steve. “We know the stresses and strains of being a professional boxer, whether starting out on the small halls or holding world titles. We understand it all. We have learned lessons along the way, built relationships, understood the importance of networking and influence to assist others in achieving their goals. We are always realistic when we talk to potential new boxers. Others out there will lie, sell a dream that can never be achieved. Nobody out there would accuse us of that. We work with honesty, integrity and passion to make sure we maximise the potential of any boxer who signs to the stable.”

Through being able to blend top-class management along with the opportunity to box on shows promoted by Goodwin Boxing partners, we can develop careers the correct way and make sure that our boxers are active and given opportunities, meaning that progress is made at the correct speed for the fighter.

During their time in the sport, Goodwin Boxing have carved out a reputation as being capable of supporting the journeys of men and women who others may not have invested the time into. Few will know this, but Steve in his younger days was a high-level chess player. That mental capacity to think a few moves ahead is what has set him apart.

“Honestly, I have got as much joy in this sport taking Jumaane Camero to an Area title at York Hall as I got from being involved in world title fights, or major events at the O2. Being there to find ways to help these athletes achieve their dreams – that is why we do what we do.”

Steve is supported at Goodwin Boxing by Operations Director Kevin Campion, Operations Manager Alan Budgen, Executive Officer Josh Goodwin and a number of individuals who all play a part in making sure promises are kept and dreams are met, as Kevin Campion explains.

“We are in a unique position as an organisation with our Promoters that we work alongside putting on a lot of shows through the year, the strength of the individuals that make up Goodwin Boxing and the brainpower of Steve leading the way. I genuinely believe no other boxing company can provide what we do, not help boxers achieve like we can, at all levels of the sport.”

The door is always open at Goodwin Boxing. If you are an active boxer without Management who would benefit from assistance in achieving their own personal goals, contact us. We can help you, and we will.
