FROM WORLD CHAMPIONS TO JOURNEYMEN THIS MAN DOES IT ALL

13 years in the boxing business and 10 years as a manager.

46 champions later and Steve Goodwin has proved himself to be one of the most successful boxing managers the UK has seen. Managing World Champions, British Champions, Commonwealth Champions, English Champion, and Area champions, Goodwin has accomplished it all.

He does this without charging any management fees until the boxer are on guaranteed purses. "It is important to me to do the right thing and I do not want to take any money management wise from a boxer until they are on guaranteed purses". "Boxers have to sell tickets and pay house fees to the promoter which ever promotion they are on and that is enough in my opinion. I am a successful financial adviser and make my money outside boxing so I feel more comfortable taking nothing from a boxer at this stage in their career."

Even then the most Goodwin takes in management fee is just 10% rather than the industry norm of 25%. "I am not comfortable with the 25% norm. I think it is too much money to take"

"I get as much enjoyment from looking after my journeymen as I do my champions" confessed Goodwin. I want them to have a better life and be really well looked after. Another unique accomplishment Goodwin has is many of his boxers remain close friends after they retire. "I build up relationships with them as I do not manage boxers I do not care about"

Currently looking after five journeymen Jordan Grannum, Robbie Chapman, Michael Mooney, Phil Willaims and Kasey Bradnum as well as over 60 prospects, Goodwin is still looking for new fighters to sign. "We want boxers who want to be part of the Goodwin boxing family and share the same ethos We always have room for the right person."
